Palm Sunday Donkey
A Donkey is to lead the Palm Sunday Procession from the Allendale Centre to the Minster on Palm Sunday 9th April. Jacqui Mould, a member of the Minster Congregation, has managed to get hold of a donkey for the occasion. Anthony Oliver, Press Officer for the Minster. Anthony said, “It will be the first time that we have had a donkey. It will act as a reminder that Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem and was met by a crowd waving Palm Branches.”
The Procession leaves the Allendale Centre at 9.20am following the Blessing of the Palms held aloft by members of the congregation. The Procession then proceeds down East Borough to the singing of the hymn ‘Lift high the cross’ into the Square where it halts for a Reading before continuing down the High Street to the singing of the hymn ‘All glory, laud and honour’ to the Minster for the start of the 9.45am Parish Eucharist Service.
