FORMER MINSTER RECTOR MARKS 60th ANNIVERSARY OF HIS PRIESTING

The Revd Canon David Price, who was Rector of Wimborne Minster from 1986 until 2001 joined the Midweek Communion Service in Wimborne Minster on Wednesday 25th September to mark the 60th anniversary of his Priesting. He was Ordained to the Priesthood in Rochester Cathedral by the then Bishop The Right Revd Dr David Say on 27th September 1964. The Service thiwas led by the current Rector the Revd Canon Andrew Rowland. The two lessons were read by former Curates who served at the Minster alongside David Price, Revd Jeremy Law and Revd Tim Clapton with the Gospel read by the current Curate the Revd Marianne Mangham. During the Homily by the Rector he read out a letter from the Bishop of Salisbury the Right Revd Stephen Lake addressed to David Price in which he recalled earlier years when he had met David at Rural Deans Meetings during his time as Vicar of St Aldhelm's, Branksome. The Rector also conducted a short interview with David who spoke of the different Parishes where he had served over the years before arriving in Wimborne. The Prayers were led by the Rector and David Price gave the Blessing at the end of the Service.

Following the Service refreshments were provided in Church House and there was plenty of reminiscing. Chris Brown Town Crier gave a special 'CRY' to mark the significant occasion.
