The Friends of Wimborne Minster
The Friends, a registered charity, was founded in 1945
to form an association of all who have the welfare and preservation of Wimborne Minster at
heart . It has as its main aims to beautify and enrich
the Minster, and to promote and foster interest in, and knowledge of, it's
history and records; also to establish a fund which can be used for the
preservation and enrichment of the Minster, it's contents and precincts.
What do the Friends do?
In the past the Friends have raised money for
redecorating the Minster, refurbishing and lighting the choir stalls, and
restoring the Beaufort window (right). They have also bought cassocks for
the girls’ choir, display cases for the Model Clock and the Chained
Library, and cupboards for storing altar frontals.
