Fairtrade
Further Information

Many of the Minster congregation supported the Christian Aid Supermarket campaign in the late 1990s - a campaign to urge supermarkets to stock more Fairtrade products. This led to more products being available on supermarket shelves and the founding of the government sponsored Ethical Trading Initiative.

Now that fair trade has become more mainstream, there are many more outlets - including Safeways, Sainsbury, Tesco, Waitrose, Somerfield and many independent grocers. The Co-op have taken their commitment very seriously - all their own brand coffee and chocolate carries the Fairtrade mark. Produce carrying the Fairtrade mark now includes coffee, tea, fruit juice, honey, snacks, chocolate, cocoa, jam, marmalade and fresh fruit.

We would encourage you to get 'A taste for life' and join the growing band of fair trade supporters.
