About Hinton Martell

Hinton Martell is a small but beautiful, friendly village just off the Cranborne Road about 5 miles north of Wimborne.

The Church of St John the Evangelist hosts the Group Holy Communion Service on the second Sunday of each month, and unique among the villages sings the moving Choral Communion version. Hinton Martell shares with the villages provision of services at other times in the year, for example at the major festivals.

Amongst other events it also has a popular Harvest Service and supper, a long standing Animal Service to bless animals in October, a Carol Service to bless and light the Christmas Tree by the fountain after singing carols through the village, and an interactive Crib Service on Christmas Eve. The village has a fine Grade II listed War Memorial at which in recent years the annual Remembrance Service has been held to include several of the surrounding villages.

The Church of St John the Evangelist is a popular venue for weddings and baptisms.

Hinton Martell is a community active beyond its size, which supports church and village events with equal enthusiasm. The annual fete has developed into a very successful occasion which brings the village together and draws in large numbers from the surrounding area. The same is true of its popular Crafty Christmas Fayre, and the Queen's Jubilee in 2012 was another wonderful example.

In the last two years we have organised a popular Rogation Walk, which has become an annual event. One group walks from our fountain to Holt Green, where it is met by another group coming from the Minster. Everyone then gets together for a picnic lunch on the Green or in the Village Hall, depending on the weather.
